Still chugging away....5 weeks later!

We've reached the halfway point of our program and I'm still in a turkey coma from Thanksgiving, hence the lack of a recent blogpost. This is usually the point in PE class where people start to get the midterm blues- i.e., it gets harder to show up on time (especially if it is at 8am), you feel a bit lazier, and things start to feel like routine.

Most groups are up to 6:1 in the run:walk ratio and looking good! You're going to begin to notice that the distance you run actually gets a bit longer- yes, that's because your run portion now accounts for more of your workout than the walk portion. It's a bit tougher to run the longer distances, but remember you have less intervals AND you can always run at a slower pace.

For this week's blogpost comment, reply with 1-2 obstacles that have prevented/deterred you from running outside of class consistently.

  1. What mainly prevents me from jogging is my homework and studies. And then When I have spare time everything seems more interesting than to run (go out with friends, watch TV, rest, etc.)

  2. first obstacle that prevents me from running consistently is my schoolwork load. and second is just being plain lazy. lol. I'm just being honest. :)

  3. Obstacle #1: Time is an issue. Most of this precious commodity is spent on my art projects.

Obstacle #2: My new laptop keeps me indoors. It's so much fun to play with.

  4. Definitely homework, but I try to manage my time and take a few walks here and there during the week. Second reason would probably be the computer, phone and all the technology we have in the house. We leave the computer for a second and next thing you know your texting someone on the phone, then you end up watching a movie on the tv which you never planned for.

  5. As everyone else, the main obstacle is homework. Due to the homework and all the projects, quizes, labs, or whatever else EVERY WEEK, it is hard to find time for yourself and even less to socialize. That leads me to the second obstacle that is when I have a little bit of time I try to go out with friends or simply relax by doing NOTHING.

  6. My main obstacle is time. I work around 20 hours a week, so the only time I have,I spend it on my studies! I still do a couple of sit-ups and push-ups before going to bed so I don't feel to bad!

  7. Usually I'm pretty good at keeping up with my outside activities, joining a gym really helped.
But homework is one issue and work/social life is another.

  8. My 2 obstacles that prevent me from running outside of school:

    - My schedule is 8 am- 6 pm ALMOST everyday of the week so therefore when i get home i have little time to run.

    - the piles of homework/readings i receive.

  9. I would class "procrastinating" as an obstacle because I enjoy not doing homework on my spare time and hanging out with friends instead. Another obstacle would be getting myself motivated to put on running shoes and go for a run. I know that it has it's benefits, but the couch potato inside me loves to just stay in one spot without moving, french fries included.

  10. The 2 obstacles i would say deprive me of running outside class time are:

    1. The amount of homework, studying and reading i have.

    2. The work and procrastinating :(

  11. The homework and my job have really prevented me from going out for a good jog. But i guess the motivation wasn't there either.:(

  12. I try my best to get out and run outside of class and so far I've been able to at least two more times per week. The things that have been keeping me from going more often are mainly school work and my terrible schedule. I start early and finish late everyday and therefore when I get home I have little time to do homework let alone go for a run. I try my best but it is very difficult.

  14. The two obstacles that prevent me from running as much as i would want to outside of school are:

Obstacle#1: homework. School can keep you very occupied, with all this homework it seems like there's never enough time.

Obstacle#2: tiredness or laziness. When I do have time, it’s either I am too lazy or I rather go out with friends or go on the computer or watch TV, things just seem more interesting than running.

  17. My 2 obstacles that prevent me from running outside of class:

Homework: Like everyone else, the amount of homework, projects, lab reports are enough to keep me busy during the entire week. After studying a lot, the last thing I want to do is running outside; so I end up spending my time on the computer or doing some of my personal hobbies.

Laziness: I think this reason speaks for itself unfortunately... :(

  19. Two out of a long list of obstacles that keep me from running outside of class are:

Obstacle#1 : Definitely assignments, its hard to keep up with a truck load of school work and find time to go jogging

Obstacle#2: the weather, Canadian weather and i don't really agree so well, so I'll rather stay inside where it's nice and warm

  20. Obstacle 1 : Between school, with all the homework, assignments and studying, and work, it is hard to find the time to even want to run instead of relax.

Obstacle 2: Because of a leg injury, it is difficult to go out running and imporove each time by running longer and longer.

One obstacle I face that doesn't allow me to run outside of class is my horrible laziness. Another obstacle would be school work and chores. :(

  22. The first obstacle for me would be my exams and homeworks, which is getting overall my other things and my second one would be that it's getting real cold outside and I prefer running at the gym right now..

  40. 1) WEATHER = NOT COOL
I mean I wouldn't mind running in a warm morning breeze... but the breeze isn't going to get warmer! This is a big obstacle.
    2) Routine... The 20 minutes seem longer week after week... is it normal or is it just that my laziness has broken loose?

  43. I would love to say that I run regularly outside of class, but I don't. There are many reasons that prevent me from doing so:
    1. I already walk my dog for at least an hour total every day, so running in addition to that could be tiring and time consuming.
    2. I have tons of homework, another time consumer.
